West Windsor Plainsboro High School South has a diverse student body with a heavy focus on academic success. The staff are all very well educated and do a good job of teaching the students in their respective subjects. I personally felt that my teachers throughout all four years gave me the adequate support and encouragement to do well in my classes. Students definitely are encouraged to work hard and take at least some advanced placement or honors courses. South has a unique structure in that many classrooms do not actually contain walls, with dividers being used to distinguish classrooms. The environment is very competitive, and academic pressure is definitely higher at West Windsor Plainsboro High School South than at other schools. One thing that I would like to see change is that there is less pressure on the students to acheive perfect grades, and are instead encouraged to learn and enjoy the subjects that they are getting taught in school. Additionally, lower stigma on regular

High School South is a very academic school. Since the majority of the population here is Asian we tend to become very academically competitive. Some might say that the school's rigorous and competitive environment is helpful but personally I think that it leads kids down a path where the only thing they think about is grades, ECs, college, etc. This makes a student very mental and physically exhausted. I'm currently a junior and consider myself to be an average student however in this school I'm considered one of the less smarter ones. This really makes the average students like myself to be demotivated and not realize they're full potential. Yes, I believe that South has excellent students but that's solely because of the kids themselves. The kids are studying day and night, paying for tutoring, etc. IMO, the school has no real contribution to academic excellence. Just know that if you plan to go to this district be ready for a challenging time and take time for yourself.
