Free typing games can help teach kids and adults how to type as well as how they can improve their speed and accuracy. Not only do these online typing games help to build and improve your typing skills, but they also can be a lot of fun to play.
Below you'll find the best free typing games from all over the internet. Read the directions for each game to get the best chance of getting the fastest speed and the lowest number of errors.
We recommend starting with the lowest difficulty level, even if you have some typing experience. As you move up into the more advanced levels, you'll still be improving your skills even if it seems a little easy at first.
After you've played some of these games, test your speed and accuracy using a free online typing test. If you're just a beginner to typing or really need to brush up on your skills, you should consider taking somefree typing lessons.

Keyman is a free typing game that's a play onPac-Manand is perfect for the beginner typer.
However, instead of like Pac-Man where you can use your arrow keys to move around, you need to press the correct key to escape the ghosts and win the game.
After each move, the letters/numbers will change to make you think about not only which direction you should move to avoid losing the game, but also which key to strike to move.
There are three levels, and you can change which keys to focus on.
Desert Typing Racer

Desert Typing Racer is one of the best online typing games if you like racing games. The goal is to type the letters above the cars before you crash into them. It's fast-paced which makes it challenging and a lot of fun. If you can't type fast enough, you can use one of your limited jumps (the spacebar).
There are 40 levels that teach everything from the home row to French words. Talk about a typing challenge!
You can customize Desert Typing Racer by the level of difficulty—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This makes it a great typing game that will keep challenging you as your skills improve.

What We Don't Like
The slow graphics can make viewing the keys difficult.

KeyBricks is a highly addictive typing game where you'll need to locate certain letters on your keyboard to eliminate groups of colored bricks. Type the letter located on a colored block to instantly remove all the other same-colored blocks that are touching.
You can choose to play easy, normal, or hard, which gives you home row keys, all letters, or letters and numbers.
This game is great for the beginner typer, but also is a good reinforcement exercise for someone who already has some skills.
Space Bar Invaders

Provides a nice mix of words.

Doesn't let you pause.
Obtrusive sounds.
In Space Bar Invaders, you'll need to type the characters that appear under the aliens before they reach the bottom of the screen and the game is over.
Watch out for those UFOs; you'll want to be sure to get those because they're worth extra points.
There are dozens of lessons here and three levels ofdifficulty, so it makes for a great typing game for the beginner or expert typist. You can pick from things like the home row keys only, just letters and numbers, all keys, and everything else in between.
Cup Stacking

Cup Stacking is a basic typing game that's a great way to learn or reinforce the keys on the home row.
Colorful cups show up on a picnic blanket and they can be stacked or unstacked by typing the letters on the cups. Your goal is to finish the game in the least amount of time possible.
Multiplayer Racing
What We Like
No user account is needed.
What We Don't Like
Doesn't always have enough users to run a normal race.
Keybr is a hub for a few typing-related tasks. In addition to its typing lessons and WPM test is this multiplayer game. The goal is to race against your opponents. The faster you type, the quicker your car moves across the screen.
You can start playing immediately because you don't need a user account. You'll get an anonymous username during the game, and you're competing with other random users.
